Hi!

My name is Bentley Porterfield-Finn (she/her). I am originally from Colorado, but I have also lived in California, Italy, New Zealand, and Oregon. When I am not nerding out over all things birth and reproductive health, I love hiking, playing Scrabble, reading, cooking, and spending quality time with my husband and our beautiful daughter.

I completed my DONA International doula training in 2019 and earned my Stillbirthday birth and bereavement doula certification in 2020. I am also a CAPPA Lactation Educator. Through my own personal struggles with my menstural cycle, my own pregnancy and birth journey, and my experience supporting birthing persons of diverse backgrounds, I have cultivated a passion for women’s health and seeking evidenced-based information to support women and birthing persons in all facets of the reproductive lifespan. As a doula, my goal is to be an advocate and a source of guidance and support in the birthing space.

A major part of my practice involves giving you tools to trust your intuition and the wisdom of your own body. I do my best to guide my clients in integrating both evidence-based information and deep intuitive knowing. My approach to doula work is also informed by a birth equity and a reproductive justice lens.

In May of 2021 I received my Master degree in Communication Studies from Colorado State University (CSU). In addition to my doula work, I am also a researcher passionate about conducting research to forward our understanding of health disparities and move towards health equity. My research is grounded in my interest in supportive communication, reproductive health communication, identity, and equity.

My work

As a doula, my ultimate goal is to support and empower birthing persons throughout the entire birthing process and continuously postpartum. Birth is unpredictable. It is a beautifully unique experience, filled with twists and turns. I will provide you with the physical, emotional, and informational tools needed to have the most empowering experience possible.

I will not speak for you—my role is to respect your voice and to advocate for your choices. Through intentional support, I seek to help guide you through the process and mitigate fear and anxiety along the way.

I believe doula support is a right, not a privilege. All people deserve to birth in a safe environment in which they feel heard and honored. To honor this, I offer payment plans and a limited number of sliding scale births each year.
